Cars versus buses

Transport that anyone can use by paying a fare is called ‘public transport’ and is run by companies as a service. Cars owned by your family are called ‘private transport’ as they are owned and run by your family for personal use.
Do you prefer travelling by car like Wallace and Gromit in the photograph or do you like travelling by bus?
How many different sorts of vehicles can you think of that move people from place to place? See the milestones section of this Website for more ideas.
How did you travel today? Did you walk, use a bicycle, come by car, bus or train? Which is the most popular do you think?
Download the 'Travel diary template' and try keeping a travel diary to see how many journeys you and your family and friends make each week and what sort of transport you all use.
You could also add up how much each of the journeys cost in money and find out who has the most expensive day, week or month!
