Archives are collections of historical documents. They are fascinating places to discover all sorts of information about the past.

Archives are run by public organisations, private companies or private individuals.

There is a public archive where you live with documents about your local area. You can find your nearest archive on the Website of the National Archives. You can look at these documents for free in the 'search rooms' of these archives.

Jowett montage The Nick Baldwin Collection was compiled by private individual Nick Baldwin. It is an archive of photographs, magazines, newspaper cuttings, and advertising material linked to road transport. It has information about road vehicles and the people who travelled and worked on them.
